The leaves are falling from the trees, the weather has turned colder and all of a sudden, the spookiest time of year is upon us! It really seems like the year is flying by, the kids have already been back at school for a while and there’s never enough time to do anything! Do you recognize that feeling? If you’ve got a Halloween party coming up, but no time, or inspiration for the kids outfits, we’ve put together a list of five last-minute DIY costume ideas for your little ones
1. The Addams Family
We love this Wednesday Addams Halloween costume! It’s an easy but recognisable outfit for a girl, and all you need to create the look is a black dress and long hair for plaits. For added ghoulish points, the Cousin It candy pail is effective and easy to make using a hat, glasses, and a mop head.
2. Spider costume
For the little ones, this is a really comfortable and cute outfit idea. It’s also a great option because it’s relatively cheap, it uses lots of items you probably already have, like black socks, gift tissue and black ribbon. And best of all, if you’ve got a glue gun to hand, there’s absolutely no sewing involved!
3. Scary Lions mask
We love this idea because as well as being a real statement outfit, it’s also a great way to get the kids crafting! They can be involved in making the mask and then they’ll get so much more joy out of wearing it and showing it to their pals at the party. And the best part? All you need is a paper bag, some raffia twine, and crafting supplies. And why stop at just a lion? Can you think of other spooky mask designs to make?
4. Spooky skeleton
How last minute are we talking here? If you’re really low on time, this option is great because it’s sooo simple. It just uses white duct tape and whatever long sleeve black top and trousers you have available. We think this would look Spooktacular walking around the neighborhood on Halloween!
